There was a time when the supernatural ruled the open world and struck fear in the hearts of mortals, making the humans believe them to be true creatures of their nightmares. Now though many people are still fascinated with these creatures and some even believe them to be real, their judgement is clouded by over 100 years of media and in fact don't truly believe that the legends and myths are from actual stories and accounts. Today the supernatural may not rule the humans through terror and fear anymore, but they still control our lives and even do so right in front of our very eyes. Despite many of the legends coming from the European coast, some of the species we know today originated from the country we call America. One special place being a piece of land people nowadays call Harper Valley and just like the mountains it stands by the town holds many secrets that most could not believe to be true. Harper Valley was founded by a group of families in 1800 but the land it sits on has a much darker history. Stories of Vampires, Werewolves, and war plagued the land and the only source of protection the humans had were the Magi. Even though that source remains today, the supernatural are no longer welcome in the town and any caught by the Founders Council will surely regret it.
But Harper Valley isn't the only place that can be called "Supe Central". New York City and Las Vegas have their fair share of supernatural beings as well, in fact maybe more so than any other city. Currently the city of New York is undergoing a major change and it all began when a local Werewolf clan decided to move into Vampire territory and claim it as theirs. The Vampire's are resisting and have no intentions to lose one of their borough's while the Magi and Shapeshifters remain on the side lines, only concerned for their own species. The neutral clans are trying their best to remain out of the conflict but many fear that if a war breaks out it won't be long before it spreads not just through out the supernatural world, but the human world as well. To prevent the humans from becoming involved and eventually hurt, a group of elite hunters formed by the Original Hunter vowed to protect the human race from anything supernatural and so far they've done a damn good job.
Meanwhile in the City of Sin the supernatural run the city and do so right under our noses. If fact one of the casinos you gamble at or even the hotel you stay in is most likely owned by a supernatural. Though any supernatural can own a piece of real estate you have to go through one of the Founding Vampire families in order to acquire it. The families, though not the founders of the city itself, are the ones who introduced Las Vegas to the supernatural black market and because of that each family is in control of part of the city. But with two families sharing power comes conflict and rivalry. Since before The Market was formed the two families shared a hatred for the other, their reasons only known by the leaders but one thing is certain, any supernatural who becomes involved with the Market must choose a side and must choose wisely. Neither family is known to be very forgiving and any who oppose them will surely regret it but the families do support the supernatural community and offer protection to any willing to pay. However, even to those who have never crossed paths with one the supernaturals are on high alert for any could be easily taken from the comfort of their home and never seen by their loved ones again. Just like mortals, the supernatural have their own source of violent entertainment and certainly show no signs of ending it any time soon. The Markov's were the first to form the Were Arenas, and although most of the contestants are brought in unwillingly, the arena brings in hundreds of supernaturals a night to see the bloody show, only for most of the Were's involved to never make it out alive. While the Markov family are notorious for their wolf fights, the Vinci have recently started to deal in Magi blood - a sort of drug for all supernatural and is known to be very addictive. Because of these two predicaments a group called The Resistance was formed, originally by a group of Were's fighting the Arenas but recently the Scarlet Council - the official form of Magi government - have joined forces to fight their own battle.
Whether you believe in the supernatural or not is up to you, but I must warn you....if you wish to live in any of these three places it might be best to catch up on your mythology and to keep a close eye on the creatures Living in the Shadows if you wish to survive.
